There are two fixed circles of radius R1 and R2 external to each other. A variable circle touches both these two circles externally....what is the locus of the centre of the variable circle....
I've tried this question by writing coordinate equations but it is becoming too long...can anyone suggest a shorter method???? plz reply soon.

the locus will be a hyperbola. No coordinate geometry is required. you can prove it through simple geometrical observations.
