My main doubt regarding field inside a cavity is that if a charge is placed inside the cavity and an opposite charge is induced on the surface of the cavity then should the field inside the cavity as well as in the conductor become zero?

field inside caonductor is zero but field inside cavity is not zero.field inside cavity is due to the chrages inside the cavity.charges appearing on the outer surface of the conductor do not contribute to it.charges appearing on the inner surface of the cavity may or may not contribute to it...that would depend upon the situation.
